Amita speculates that information and discussion around perimenopause and the menopausal journey as a whole are largely taboo because women are still thought of generally in terms of fertility. With menopause, our fertility and reproductive era ends and society’s overarching thought is that we’ve had our day. We haven’t had our day, we’re still very much here, and very much in need of open conversations about the menopausal journey. So Amita and I define perimenopause and menopause, common symptoms, practical issues like hot flashes and wearing a diaper due to sudden blood flow, sleep issues, and all the ways Ayurvedic health practices can help us through this stage. From herbs to self-massage to oil-pouring sleep treatments, Amita shares knowledge on everything we women didn’t know we needed to know about perimenopause.
